Write outreach that gets answers

What you build today: A first message you can send today, and ten of them sent by hand to your best buyers.

The first-message prompt (copy it, fill the [brackets], paste it into ChatGPT or Claude):

My buyer sentence: [your buyer sentence]
The person: [their role, and one specific detail about them]
Write 3 versions of a first message to this person.
Rules: under 60 words. Open with the specific detail, not with me. Ask exactly one question about their situation that they can answer in a few words. No pitch, no link, no request for a call, no flattery.
Write it the way a real person texts: plain and warm.

Worksheet

  • My buyer sentence: ____
  • Person 1: role ____ / one specific, checked detail ____
  • Rule check: under 60 words? Opens with them? Exactly one question? No pitch, no link, no call?
  • Would I send it to a friend without cringing? Yes / No
  • Can they answer in five words? Yes / No
  • Sent (by hand): __ / 10
  • Replies so far: ____ (when someone replies: answer, then ask one more question)
  • No product yet? Write to people who fit the service you can deliver. The first message does not mention what you sell.

Homework

  1. Draft your message with the prompt and edit it with the three checks.
  2. Send ten, by hand, on the channel where you found each person.
  3. Save your best message as your template for next week.
